UPDATE: JUNE 7, 2007
Eagle Optics will no longer offer the Leica D-Lux 3 Digital Camera. Experience has shown the Leica C-Lux 2 as an even better choice for digiscoping, especially with the Leica Digital Camera Adapter. The C-Lux 2 will be available on our website soon. Call 1-800-289-1132 for more info.
Migration is winding down and I see the avid bird watchers having withdrawal symptoms from not constantly viewing through their binoculars. You can comfort yourself with the thought of fall migration, but we have a fascinating way to pass the time until then. Digiscoping is becoming an extremely popular hobby for our customers and one you should consider to enhance your birding experiences. Even though we are not a camera company, we have included the silver or black Leica D-Lux 3 Digital Camera in our inventory because of its digiscoping friendly features. For those of you who are just learning about digiscoping, it can be as simple as holding a point and shoot digital camera up to your binoculars or spotting scope. The outcome with your existing equipment may not be high quality, but with the Leica Televid Spotting Scopes, the Leica Digital Camera Adapter, and the Leica D-Lux 3 Digital Camera, you will be rewarded with positive results.
If you already own a Leica Televid Spotting Scope and a point and shoot camera (with only 3 or 4 power optical zoom), you can complete your set up with the Leica Digital Camera Adapter. This adapter is very camera friendly and our Leica Product Specialist, Jeff Bouton, says he has encountered only two point and shoot digital cameras that did not work on this adapter. Leica’s Digital Camera Adapter eliminates the need to match camera filter threads with equipment, reduces the energy one can expend on set-up, and will have you taking pictures in no time. This is so user friendly, you can even use your cell phone on the Leica Adapter for photographs.
If you don’t already own a compatible point and shoot digital camera, the Leica D-Lux 3 is the perfect camera to complete your digiscoping outfit. With 10 Megapixels, you will enjoy fantastic images for use with HDTV equipment. Your results will be enhanced by the optical stabilization technology and the included software package of Adobe Photoshop Elements and Quicktime Movie Player. The D-Lux 3 does not have any automatic settings—allowing you the freedom to create your own images. With an over sized LCD monitor of 2.8 inches you will have an amazing scene, whether you are taking the picture or just searching for your next subject. For a limited time only, Eagle Optics is offering a free tripod with the purchase of a Leica D-Lux 3— perfect for mounting your new camera when not digiscoping.
This package of the Leica D-Lux 3 Digital Camera with a free Radian 250 Tripod is one of several packages offering our customers ways to save money by purchasing compatible products. On our menu you will see a listing for “Package Deals”. When you click on this heading, there will be a drop down box with choices for binocular packages, spotting scope packages, and digital camera packages. Be sure to check out the packages we have featured. Call us at 1-800-289-1132 or email us at email@example.com for answers to any questions you might have.
Ben has returned from a busy Detroit Lakes Birding Festival and shares his digiscoped picture of a Black and White Warbler. Mike McDowell has posted his photos and experiences from a lovely trip to Door County-be sure to check them out. As for me, I will spend the holiday weekend gardening and doing battle with the grackles that have invaded my backyard. I am sure some talented digiscoper could compose an artfully delightful picture of these guys, but I don’t have such pleasant thoughts as they devour seed and keep other birds away. Whatever your plans for the weekend, we hope it is a safe and happy one and if you are out birding, think about digiscoping and all the beautiful images you would like to capture!
